Dressings are external medicines used to heal wounds, mainly hemostatic gauze (usually medical degreasing gauze). It can play a role in supervising and covering wounds. But it cannot be used for infectious wounds, does not promote wound healing, has limited exudate management ability, adheres to wounds, re-injures new epithelial tissue and causes bleeding, and the patient suffers after changing the dressing.

The role of dressing
1. Resist mechanical factors (such as dirt, collision, inflammation, etc.), resist pollution and chemical stimulation.
2. Prevent secondary infection.
3. Prevent drying and loss of body fluids (electrolyte loss).
4. Prevent heat loss.
5. In addition to comprehensive protection of wounds, it can also actively affect the wound healing process through debridement and create a microenvironment that promotes wound healing.
Types of dressings
1. Interactive dressing
Contains acrylate polymer with super absorption. After being activated by Ringer's solution, it releases Ringer's solution for 24 consecutive hours, continuously, actively and powerfully cleaning wounds. It is suitable for all open wounds (except narrow and deep wounds)., including infectious wounds and various stages of healing, especially debridement.
2. Silver dressing
Silver ions can directly kill bacteria, control wound infection, accelerate wound healing, and remove odors caused by bacteria. It is an ideal anti-infection dressing.
3. Calcium alginate dressing
It is a mixture of alginic acid and calcium ions, which forms a smooth gel after contacting with wound exudate and blood exudation to protect the wound surface and effectively promote wound healing.
4. Foam dressing
Most dressings are foamed from water molecular materials and are covered with a polyurethane semi-permeable membrane. High exudate absorption capacity, efficient exudate management ability, high hydrophilic material, reduce the risk of wound adhesion, promote wound healing, and foam pads cushion external pressure.
5. Hydrocolloid dressing
Using the principle of airtight moisturizing, hydrophilic CMC particles are in contact with wound exudation, and a layer of moist gel is formed on the surface of the wound, which continuously creates a moist environment and does not adhere to the wound.
6. Hydrogel dressing
It is a hydrophilic polyurethane polymer with high water content, which automatically adjusts the wetness of the wound, has the ability to absorb a small amount of exudate, does not stick to the wound, and is easy to remove.
